EL ARCA was formed in 1965 by a small group of Hispanic parents who were in need of quality services for their developmentally disabled children as a replacement to institutionalization.

In 1969, with the help of professionals interested in the cause, EL ARCA became incorporated as a social enterprise non-profit organization. As the State assumed responsibility for the education of developmentally disabled children, EL ARCA’s mission changed to serve adults with developmental disabilities.

In 1978 EL ARCA constructed its first location in Lincoln Heights to provide day programs to persons with developmental disabilities.

Years later, in 2015, EL ARCA accomplished its dream of having a second location to provide more services in an expanded geographical area to the south east Los Angeles and South Central Los Angeles communities. Currently, EL ARCA provides services to over 240 individuals and their families.

For some time now, EL ARCA has dreamt of participating in the Annual Tournament of Roses Parade. This dream is now closer than ever as we have fundraised over the last decade to participate but we are still in need of donations to make it a reality!

With your help and donations, EL ARCA will be able to represent service providers and developmentally disabled individuals at the 2027 Tournament of Roses Parade.

The Annual Tournament of Roses Parade is experienced by almost a million people in person and over 50 million people in over 140 countries watch it on their televisions and on social media. EL ARCA will be honored to utilize this opportunity to create awareness about the wonderful and valuable work that organizations make in providing quality programing for individuals with developmental disabilities.
