Honoring the Life and Legacy of EJ Rotherham

On the morning of May 26, 2025, our community suffered a profound loss. EJ Rotherham, a beloved educator, mentor, friend, husband, and more passed away peacefully in his sleep from a heart attack.

For the past 28 years, EJ served at Agnes Stewart Middle School, where he shaped the lives of thousands of students and families. Known for his engaging warmth, silly humor, and deep commitment to education, EJ was far more than a teacher—he was a cornerstone of the Springfield community. Generations of students and colleagues were touched by his unwavering support, leadership, and kindness.

Beyond the school halls, EJ was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He leaves behind his loving wife, three sons, two daughters-in-law, and two grandchildren, all of whom were the center of his world.

As the family navigates this sudden and heartbreaking loss, we are reaching out on their behalf to ask for support. Contributions will go toward funeral expenses, travel costs for loved ones coming from afar to pay their respects, and other pressing needs during this incredibly difficult time.
