Support Eileen's Family After Milwaukee Flood
Donation protected
Hi! My name is Eileen. My husband, Dan, and I recently lost many belongings, children's clothes, mementos, and appliances due to the historic rainfall that fell in Milwaukee on August 9th. We have four boys. Our house is small, so our basement was a place that we stored items that we did not have space for on the main floor.
Items that we lost include a washer and dryer, hot water heater, winter clothing and boots, bedding, children's clothing, toys, furniture, fans, portable heaters, seasonal decorations, pictures, tools, school supplies, cleaning supplies, and more.
Due to a recent surgery that I had, I have been unable to support my husband in the cleaning efforts and debris removal. It has been emotionally hard watching all of our things be put to the curb as trash. It also was even more hurtful when scroungers came around and picked through our flood debris and took it!
It has been hard for our children to understand the full scope of what happened. Even harder to keep telling them no to spending any money during this time. It is not like me to reach out and ask for help, but seeing that our insurance company is not any help, Dan and I have been put in a very hard place.
In the meantime, we have been trying to function without hot water; cold showers are no fun. Friends have been helping with laundry needs, and family members have been cooking for us while energy and effort is being put towards cleanup.
Thank you for reading our story. Any support will be greatly appreciated!
