Supporting Effie’s Road to Recovery After Traumatic Accident

Donation protected
Dear friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers,

Many of you know my mom, Effie Yanos — the life of every gathering, the spark that brings people together, and a constant source of joy for those around her. This past weekend, while visiting my sister in Arizona, our lives were turned upside down.

While crossing the street in Fountain Hills, my mom and sister were struck by an accelerating car. The vehicle narrowly missed my father and brother-in-law, but my sister and mom were hit, thrown onto the windshield, and onto the pavement. My mom, Effie, lost consciousness, bleeding and in excruciating pain.

Miraculously, both my mom and sister survived the accident, but their journey to recovery has just begun. My mom has undergone extensive surgery to repair multiple fractures with long screws and plates. She has staples in her head, stomach bleeding, and remains in the ICU. Her recovery will be long and challenging, and she is expected to be here through Christmas, away from home and family.

To add to the difficulty, my father is self-employed, and their insurance does not cover out-of-state medical treatments. This leaves them facing overwhelming medical bills, rehabilitation, and physical therapy costs before she can safely return home. My parents have never been ones to ask for help nor did they want me to start this, but I know they could truly use it while they navigate through the physical healing and emotional trauma they went through.

If you are able to contribute, any amount will help ease the financial burden and allow my mom to focus on healing. Your generosity, prayers, and love will mean the world to us during this time. We are beyond grateful to have her alive — it’s a true miracle.

A Very Special Thanks to the wonderful people of Fountain Hills, we are deeply moved by your kindness. From the woman who prayed over my mom while waiting for first responders and to the search and rescue team who helped find my sister’s dog that ran away in the chaos — your support gave us hope during a dark moment. We are blessed by your compassion.

About Effie Yanos:
My mom is a giver through and through. She pours her love into her six children, two grandbabies, friends, and even children in Africa she has supported over the years. Now, we have a chance to give back to this incredible woman who has given so much to others.

Thank you for your love, support, and prayers. Together, we can help Effie get back on her feet and back to spreading the joy she’s so known for.

With gratitude, Brittany ❤️
