Hi, my name is Eddy Koskulics, and I'm a 14-year-old tennis player from Arizona. As the oldest of five children, I have been navigating my tennis journey with the support of my family and grandparents. I began playing tennis at age 11, motivated by the encouragement of my dad and grandfather, and quickly found my passion for the sport. Despite limited resources, I've been able to compete in tournaments, consistently finishing strong, and I've attained a USTA rank of 4 in the southwest and 129 in the nation on the Boys’ 14 National Singles Seeding list.
These achievements are particularly special because I've done them without private lessons, relying instead on self-training and limited group sessions. Competing against peers with access to professional private coaching and training is challenging, but my dedication keeps me going. I hope that with your support I will soon be able to receive regular private lessons myself. In my most recent tournament, the highest junior level tournament in the southwest (Level 3), I not only became a finalist in both singles and doubles but I also received the sportsmanship award.
However, as I aim higher, the costs associated with maintaining and elevating my performance are growing. Here's a quick breakdown of my monthly expenses:
-Racquets: $300 each, lasting about half a year ($50/month)
-Strings: $15 each, lasting about 1 week ($60/month)
-Balls: $150 per case, lasting about 1 month ($150/month)
-Shoes: $150 per pair, lasting 2-3 weeks (approximately $300/month)
-Tournament Fees: $40 to $200 per event (varies monthly)
-Private Lessons: $75 per session, up to 2 times per week ($600/month)
-Group Lessons: $30 per session, 2 times per week ($240/month)
---Total Estimated Monthly Costs: approximately $1,440 to $1,600, not including travel expenses.
Additionally, significant travel costs have to be factored, such as the upcoming national junior clay court championships in Dothan, Alabama costing up to $2,500.
I'm proactively raising funds by giving tennis lessons, but it's not enough. Until now, my parents and grandparents have carried this burden, which is becoming increasingly difficult.
Your support will make a significant difference, helping me cover lessons, equipment, and travel costs essential for my development. Please consider joining me on this exciting journey, and I thank you for helping me chase my dreams.
