Jeffery Simmons NFLPA Week 17: Give Em A Reason Foundation

Tax deductible
Jeffery Simmons has been selected as the Week 17 NFLPA Community MVP following a commendable series of charitable work over a seven-day span.

On December 9, the Tennessee Titans defensive lineman visited Hunters Lane High School in Nashville to present a $5,000 donation that will sponsor uniform costs, transportation, fees and other expenses for its girls' flag football team.

Later that day, Simmons surprised 20 matches from the Big Brothers Big Sisters of America of Middle Tennessee with $400 each to shop at Academy Sports + Outdoors. The All-Pro shopped alongside the kids to give them advice as they checked off items from their wish list. After one boy who recently made his eighth-grade basketball team had to put new basketball shoes back on the shelf because they didn't fit within his budget, Simmons came out of his pocket to cover the additional costs.

Then on December 16, just days after his house burglarized while he was playing in a game, Simmons took four local high school seniors shopping for suits, personally guiding each of them through the selection process. The professional attire will allow these young men to feel confident and prepared for prom, college, job interviews and other special events along their life journey.

In recognition of Simmons being named NFLPA Community MVP for Week 17, the NFL Players Association will donate $10,000 to his nonprofit of choice. Along with the other Community MVPs from this season, he will also be eligible for the Alan Page Community Award, which is the NFLPA’s highest player honor and includes an additional $100,000 donation.

As part of a new supporting partnership with GoFundMe, fans can now also make a donation directly to the NFLPA Community MVP’s selected nonprofit here. All donations are tax-deductible and will go directly to the player's selected nonprofit.

Now in its 12th season, the NFLPA’s award-winning Community MVP campaign is part of the union’s continued efforts to support the year-round civic outreach and engagement of its player members. For more information about NFLPA Community MVP program, visit here.
