Support Education for Kikajjo's Bright Future

Thank you all for being with me on my journey! I am raising funds for the upgrading of St. Mary’s Junior School of Kikajjo, Uganda, one part of the TORUWU ministry founded by Sophie and Augustine Yiga in the year 2000. I had been in communication with Augustine for 2 years when I made my decision to come see for myself the conditions and needs of the people in this village of approximately 5000.

What I see are happy children eager to learn and extremely bright. Enthusiastic, energetic, talented teachers who only currently make equivalent of $100.00 USD a month plus a place to stay. Increase in students would mean increased pay for teachers. I also see many uneducated people as you see in the stories I share. This is a very poor underdeveloped third world country. Many organizations help with food, water, and such. I strongly feel the root of the issues are lack of education.

Through much prayer we have decided the upgrade of the grounds is very important to the growth of the school. This school is very inexpensive $100.00 per semester $300.00 per year. Not many can afford that but the ones that can look at the outside and say no it’s not good enough. One problem is the rains cause flooding and mud the children have to trudge through from area to area. The disabled also use the facility, as their therapy room is part of the grounds.

We are looking at having pavers installed with a rain trench, plastering and painting inside and out, along with an entrance gate to close for security. I firmly believe this is the right direction to take in building a better future for our world and the country of Uganda. Any amount above the asking will be used toward school fees that have not yet been paid. I used to think I should focus on my own country but it was revealed to me that we are all one.
