Today I met a couple named Eduardo and his wife at Walmart.
I asked them if they dropped their wallet and immediately they said no and were honest. Even though they didn’t know me, and even though they’re carrying more than most people ever should, they still chose to be honest.
To reward their honesty, I gave them $500.
They were so shocked and began to tear up as they shared their story.
Eduardo is a father who already endured the unimaginable—losing his son to cancer. Now, as the sole provider for his family, he’s battling stage 4 pancreatic cancer himself. His wife is standing by his side through it all. He can’t work, the bills are piling up, and they’re on the verge of being evicted and losing their home. They’re doing everything they can to hold things together, but it’s overwhelming.
Even with all the weight they’re carrying, they still chose kindness. In a moment where they could have said yes, they stepped in to help.
A couple like Eduardo and his wife, who continue to show up for others in the middle of this kind of pain, shouldn’t have to go through this alone. Let’s rally around them and help keep their family off the streets so they can have some peace and stability in this season.
Do your thing, internet ❤️
