Support Ed's Fight Against Stage IV Cancer

3/28/2025 **update from Alice

Update on Ed and his treatment. He is four treatments down and has been able to get the side effects from the treatment under control thank the Lord. He is feeling some better, pain has decreased a lot and the lumps on his skin are almost nonexistent yay!!!!! While he still has treatments ahead of him, we are taking all these as good signs. He will see his provider next week and get an update on when his next scans will be. Ed is more upbeat and like his normal self which is refreshing. We thank you all for all you have done no matter if it has been financially or prayers or both. We feel the love for sure. We update again next week with when his scans and all will be. Ed will continue fighting.

I cannot thank everyone enough for the kind words and messages sent me and our family, it truly means so much. I so appreciate everyone that has been able to donate no matter how big or small it all helps. This has been one of the hardest things that my family has had to go through. Anyone that knows my husband knows that he is a very strong and proud man….a true “Man’s man”. He has always felt that it is his job to take care of us and protect us. So to see him have to try and let others try and take care of him has been so hard on him. He is the light of my life and my absolute soulmate. He was the one and only person that has taught me what true and utter genuine love is and what it means. He is the backbone of our family, and we all need him. This fight has been a long one, but we are not giving up. We have good insurance but with the cost of everything it still isn’t cutting it. We have to pay $1740 a month for our portion of the chemo treatments that insurance isn’t covering which is absolutely insane. We are still trying to recover from his initial diagnosis as the bills just continue to add up. He is now back on blood thinners due to clotting issues that started last week. These are the times that test our faith and have us call into question WHY? I know we are supposed to trust that the Lord has a plan but it seems unfair when good, caring, loving people heck even sweet little children get CANCER……I just want everyone to know that your help is so appreciated in our fight to save my husband the love of my life and the father of our 9 children and the Papa to our 14.5 grandchildren…………….WE NEED HIM. We (Lori & Pam) have created this GoFundMe to help Alice and Ed with medical bills associated with Ed’s treatment for colorectal cancer. His journey began two years ago with the initial diagnosis. He underwent radiation and chemotherapy, and later that year, he had surgery that resulted in a permanent colostomy. He was doing well and feeling good. A few months ago, routine lab monitoring showed signs of active cancer. Within a month, Ed could physically notice the return of the cancer. He is now at stage IV, and without treatment, his time is limited. With treatment, and hopefully a good response, we are hoping he can have quite a few more years.

They are still trying to recover from the medical bills related to his initial diagnosis, and now, with the added treatments, it has become overwhelming. While they have good insurance, the deductible is still high, and the medications, along with the monthly supplies for his ostomy that are not covered by insurance, continue to add up. Now that the new treatments have started, it has been hard on Ed, and he has had to miss work as well.

Ed is the backbone of his family and is so loved by his wife, Alice, and their 9 children and 13, soon to be 14, grandchildren. Ed is a great lover of the outdoors and family, and he has a lot of life to live and fight for.
