Help Care for Edith Katz: One Year of Visiting Support
Short Story
My mother, Edith Katz, had a stroke in the summer of 2024, leaving her mostly paralyzed and unable to take take care of herself and interact with other people, as she was doing until then. (This picture was taken the day before the stroke, when she drove cross country to visit her children and grandchildren.) She now lives in a nursing home in Cleveland, Ohio. Her basic care is covered, but regular, in-person companion visits—the human time that keeps her engaged and comforted—are not.
We’re raising $10,000 to fund a full year of visiting support so someone can be with her in person, do activities together, and help her regain some of her skills. Zoom and phone calls help a lot, but they don’t replace having a person there regularly to interact, move, and participate alongside her.
Thank you for donating or sharing. — Avraham Katz
