Historia:

History:
On May 5, 2025, my father, Edgar Acosta, suffered an ischemic stroke that left the right side of his brain severely damaged. As a result, the entire left side of his body became immobile, and his speech, memory, and cognitive abilities were also affected.

At just 55 years old, he is now relearning how to:

  • Walk
  • Hold objects
  • Brush his hair
  • Take his medication
  • Communicate clearly

This has been heartbreaking to watch. Tasks that were once second nature must now be taught from scratch. His recovery is taking place during a critical six-month window known as neuroplasticity, when the brain works hard to create new pathways to compensate for lost function. Without the right support, this window could close without giving him the best chance at healing.

Why We Need Help:
Because Edgar worked independently for so many years, he currently doesn’t qualify for government benefits while he’s not working. My brother Geovanny and I, along with other family members, are caring for him full-time, without outside help. I left my job and my home in California to be here with him 24/7. We are doing everything we can to keep him safe, hopeful, and progressing—but we cannot afford the long road ahead alone.

We are asking for your help to raise $20,000 to cover:

  • Physical, occupational, and speech therapy
  • Insulin and other essential medications
  • Acupuncture, massage therapy, and possible stem cell treatment
  • Transportation to and from appointments
  • Daily care supplies and medical equipment

Who He Is:
Edgar has always worked hard to give to others and support his family in Mexico, even at the expense of his own health. Though this stroke has changed him permanently, he is still our father, and we believe in his strength to keep fighting.

We know that not everyone can donate, but even sharing this page helps us get closer to the care he needs. Every prayer, message, or contribution is deeply appreciated.

Thank you for reading and for standing by us during this incredibly difficult time.

With gratitude,
Alma Lucero Acosta, Angel Geovanny Acosta & the Acosta Family
