Hola, my name is Edgar, and I want to start by saying thank you because you are taking minutes out of your day to read my story. Another story of another person that increases the statistics of people with the well-known and not desired disease, CANCER.
From Colombia, and living in United States, more specific in New Jersey -Dunellen for long time. Yes, with most of the family within sixty miles radius. I had worked hard, even two jobs for some time, with a beautiful daughter of 28 years old. At the present time I am living with my wife, my mother, and my cat. I'm very happy that they are very close to me, because of them, my other siblings, and friends I have received a lot of what is needed now that my life has made a 360-degree change. Full time work, bicycling, sometimes disc jockey -with all the items, some cooking, maintenance on a townhouse, helping and sharing with family and friend on holidays, birthdays, graduations, anniversaries and just get together to enjoy a Sunday afternoon eating and telling stories and laughing were some of the activities and responsibilities that I use to do and enjoy.
For the last seven months, my activities and responsibilities have been dealing with Chemotherapy sessions, seeing and talking with various doctors, make it on time for treatments, trying to not be in a bad mood (very hard to do most of the time) and staying home looking at food on the plate with no intension to eat it and not even being able to play with my cat, which was something I loved to do.
The doctors are very optimistic, and they see and tell me about the progress made so far, and I try to understand now that I know more about the disease and more specifically the type of cancer that I have. On the other hand, my body is telling me something different. The constant loss of weight, muscles, skin color and the willingness to perform any other activity and responsibility other than going to hospitals, doctor offices, and dealing with the weakness are out of my daily calendar.
I want to thank you again for taking the time to read my compressed -four paragraphs- story and hope that you can help to go through this difficult situation. I wish I could be working; I miss work, and all the activities and responsibilities mentioned. I would give anything to get back towards a normal life filled with family gatherings and storytelling.
