Support Eddie Ryan and Family With His Diagnosis Of Alzheimer's With Cerebral Amyloid Angiopathy (CAA)
Eddie Ryan is a 57-year-old critical care nurse who dedicated his life to caring for others at the University of Kentucky HealthCare. For years, Eddie stood at the bedside during the hardest moments of his patients' lives, offering skill, compassion, and strength when it was most needed.
Now Eddie and his family are facing an unimaginable challenge of their own!
Eddie has been diagnosed with rapid onset Alzheimer's with Cerebral Amyloid Angiopathy (CAA), resulting in multiple brain bleeds. Sadly, a life-altering condition that has ended his ability to work. This illness has dramatically changed daily life as Eddie requires increasing levels of care, medical support, and supervision.
His wife, Dawn, is also a dedicated CVICU nurse at UK HealthCare. Together they not only navigate this diagnosis but also have full custody of their three young grandchildren, whom they love and are raising on their own.
Due to medical expenses, loss of income, and the need for additional family support, Eddie and Dawn have temporarily relocated to Eddie's hometown of Whitesburg, KY with his aging mother. This move allows them to be closer to extended family who can help as Dawn remains employed at UK, while commuting to and from Lexington.
Funds raised will help the family cover:
- Daily living, caregiving needs, and unexpected costs related to Alzheimer's care.
- Household expenses due to reduced income.
- Lost income since Eddie has been unable to work since July 6, 2025.
If you are able to donate, share, and keep Eddie, Dawn, and their grandchildren in your thoughts and prayers, it means more than words can express. For those of us who have had the opportunity to work alongside Eddie, we can all attest that there is no man kinder and more loving than him.
Thank you for supporting a family who has given so much to others.
