My husband, Eddie Girard, was recently hospitalized after developing a serious blood infection. The experience was sudden and frightening, and it has left us facing a mountain of unexpected medical and prescription expenses. Because this was so unplanned, our FSA funds have already been depleted, and unfortunately, Eddie’s insurance does not cover his prescriptions. The costs are quickly becoming overwhelming for our family.

Eddie is now home, but he is still struggling with a lot of pain from a neurological issue that has yet to be diagnosed. In the meantime, I am administering intravenous antibiotics at home through a pic line, and a home health nurse visits regularly to check his blood for infection and change the dressings. The ongoing care and specialist visits are essential for his recovery, but they come with significant costs.
