My name is Ed Rivas and I’m embarrassed asking for help, but my health is at stake and I need help.
Last January, I injured myself moving into my current home. I sustained a hernia, separated my shoulder, and have neuropathy problems with my hand. I had surgery for the hernia and paid $5000 for my surgery. After surgery, I sought treatment for my hand and was on disability and FMLA. My hand has spasms and cramps up, and the nerve pain runs from my hand to my shoulder. My physician had ordered a CT scan with contrast as he needed this diagnostic procedure to properly diagnose my condition. I cannot have an MRI as I have a pacemaker. My insurance carrier at the time, CIGNA, denied the CT scan 3 times. Eventually, my disability claim was denied because of CIGNA refusing to cover my procedure. I lost my job and healthcare last May.
I also have type 2 diabetes, and my A1C is out of control. I’ve had to cancel all my medical appointments, and my pacemaker generator needs to be replaced soon. I have applied for Medicare, but it will begin in November with the first retirement payment in December. My good friend Carter Fortune has stepped up for me and has helped me financially, and I’m eternally grateful, but I can’t have him continue.
I need help to pay for 3 medical treatments: CT scan, cardiology pacemaker check, and diabetes treatment and medication. I only need to get by until December. I don’t feel well and need to get medical treatment ASAP. Any help would be gratefully appreciated. Thank you for listening and God bless you.
