Dear Friends, Family and Caring Community,
After several years of living with stage five kidney disease, our family member, Ed Gursky, Jr., will be receiving the blessing of a donated kidney from another close family member on Thursday, August 28th, at UPMC. It has been a long road filled with anxiety and daily dialysis to get to this transplant date, as for quite a while now, he has persevered with only 5% kidney function remaining.
Ed and his family have been humble during this journey, despite the delays in being accepted on the transplant list and the uncertainty of how long it would be until a donor would be identified. He is not one to ask others for help – it is not our family’s DNA to do so. That will not prevent the medical bills or lodging and transportation for his family to be there to support him during his hospital stay and future appointments from adding up.
For these reasons, and to help Ed receive this gift of life without the worry of financial burden and hardships, we are hoping to raise funds to cover the costs related to his transplant, post-surgical recovery, caregiver support and other unexpected expenses. A gift of any amount is appreciated and will go a long way in helping Ed and his family through this circumstance. If you are unable to donate, please consider passing this along to help Ed and his family.
Thank you for your consideration, kindness and generosity. With your help, thoughts and prayers, Ed has a blessed opportunity for recovery.
With love and gratitude,
The Gursky and Biro Families
