Support Ed Grissom's Fight Against Glioblastoma
Donation protected
On July 23rd 2024, Ed Grissom had an MRI of his brain after having a few symptoms that were concerning. The MRI showed that he had several tumors in his brain. He was transferred and admitted into UAMS in Little Rock. Here, the neurology team discovered that the tumors were not safe to operate on. He was discharged later in the week after a biopsy of two of the tumors. He and his family received the devastating diagnosis of Glioblastoma IDH-Wildtype CNS Grade 4 on August 5th 2024, Ed’s 65th birthday. Since the diagnosis, he has started the standard treatment of chemotherapy and radiation therapy daily for six weeks.
Ed taught band for Pleasant Grove Independent School District for the majority of his career and had recently made a switch to teach Adjunct Jazz Band for Southern Arkansas University. His dream of teaching at a college level has been paused for now. Due to working as a teacher his whole life, he never paid into social security benefits. This means that he was not eligible for disability income. Going from two incomes to one has been an added stress to this nightmare.
Ed and his wife Kathy need to focus on the challenging road ahead and removing some of the financial burden would be a huge blessing. Your donations would go towards medical expenses, travel to Little Rock for appointments and essential living costs.
The Grissom family is not a family that asks for help, but quickly realized that they have an abundance of people that love and care for them. Your thoughts, prayers and donations if possible are appreciated more than you will ever know.
