Ebun Okosesi is my vibrant, hardworking sister who lives in Lagos, Nigeria. She’s 35 years old and the loving mother of four little girls—one 6-year-old and triplets who just turned 3. Ebun has always been the heart of our family, caring for everyone and spreading joy wherever she goes. She and her husband had been together since high school, building a life and family full of love. But this year, her world changed forever. On December 20, 2025, her husband passed away in the hospital after over a year of battling complications from a car accident. Ebun was his caregiver throughout his illness, and now she faces the challenge of raising her daughters alone.
Her husband was the primary breadwinner, and he did not have life insurance. Ebun’s earnings from her job are not enough to cover rent, school fees, living expenses, and food. She needs help to keep her family together and give her daughters the comfort and stability they deserve. With your support, Ebun will be able to focus on healing, comforting her girls, and helping them through this difficult time. She also hopes to set up a small business that will provide for her family in a way her current job cannot.
Every Christmas, I’ve come onto GoFundMe to read people’s stories and donate whenever I could. I’ve always been amazed by people’s generosity, never thinking that there would be a time my family would need some of that kindness directed towards us. I’d like to thank everyone who sees it in their hearts to give something or share my sister’s story with others. Your help will go a long way in helping Ebun and her daughters get through this trying time, get back on their feet, and believe in a bright future. It will also give them dignity in a society where girls and women are often treated like second-class citizens. And one day, they all will hopefully be able to pay it forward.
