The Point East Boston Barre and Yoga is a small, boutique, community studio located in the heart of East Boston. We opened 2.5 years ago with a mission to provide yoga, health and wellness to the community and support local nonprofit organizations. We strive to enrich the community in which we live and work. Our studio community has become a way for residents to meet one another. Over the years, our community has grown immeasurably and yoga has become an essential part of our student's lives.
Since the beginning, we have welcomed students from all over with open arms. From our unexpected drop in students to our faithful unlimited members, we have served over a thousand students who have walked through our doors. All with unique reasons for joining us, some ended up staying unintentionally because of new friends made and the sense of our beloved community offered. We authentically practice *the Eastie Way* which has remained true for generations here in Eastie- meaning when all give, all gain!
We hold all types of classes, all different levels and styles to meet our students diversified needs. But most importantly, we create something special for the community and proudly partner with many local neighbors whenever we can. To name a few, East Boston Neighborhood Health Center, East Boston Soup Kitchen, Boston Public Schools, Golden Staircase/immigrant fund, Boston Women Business League, East Boston High School Cheerleaders, East Boston Pop Warner Football, Boston Children’s Hospital, Yoga Reaches Out, Cunard Tavern, DownEast and Piers Park - the list goes on. Since our opening day, we have provided discounts to healthcare workers, first responders, educators, students and many others. We also remain committed to future plans of continuing supporting our mission.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, on March 17th we closed our doors.
We migrated to virtual classes recently because our students and community deserve to still feel this sense of connectedness that we’ve built for them over the years, and although this is only temporary, the financial support will greatly help us maintain, reopen and function again once restrictions are lifted. We are asking for a reasonable amount based off of an assumed timeline of our closure. All donations will be used to support our instructors, pay rent and utilities and offer virtual classes. We understand that this is uncharted territory and are taking steps to protect our studio until further notice.
Even if it is just virtual in the meantime, we’re striving to leave our services open and accessible for those who need us most right now. Local frontline workers, teachers, emergency personnel, small businesses owners, medical professionals, first aid responders, professors, and much more do depend on us. We also can’t forget that many of our instructors are full time and rely on the studio as their primary source of income. We greatly value all of our teachers and all of our students alike because they have played an integral role in helping to establish this special community.
Every donation goes to the greater good and supports the people we are honored to take care of. We already appreciate your consideration to support us and helping contribute to our studio prevailing through these intricate times.
Love,
The Point EB Barre & Yoga team.
