Why This Program Exists
The path to elite sport—and ultimately the Olympic Games—is often closed to talented athletes who lack access, resources, or opportunity after transitioning from other careers. Many high-level athletes finish professional or collegiate careers with the drive to compete at the highest level, but without the structural support needed to navigate a new sport, especially one as demanding and resource-intensive as bobsled.
The Team USA Bobsled Human Development & Opportunity Program exists to bridge that gap.
This program provides structured support to athletes transitioning from professional football and other competitive sports into elite bobsled development. Through mentorship, training, and competition access, participants are given the opportunity to continue their pursuit of excellence while developing leadership, resilience, and service-driven impact beyond sport.
Who This Program Supports
Program participants include athletes from diverse backgrounds who share a commitment to discipline, teamwork, and service. Among current participants:
Athletes transitioning from professional football and other high-performance sports
Active-duty and former service members continuing to represent values of service and leadership
Minority athletes whose access to Olympic pathways has historically been limited
Together, these participants represent the power of structured opportunity—demonstrating how elite sport can serve as a vehicle for personal growth, community inspiration, and national representation.
Team Eldridge III
Funds raised through this campaign will support program participants competing and training as part of the Team Eldridge III sled, a competitive bobsled unit operating within the program’s human development framework.
The sled represents more than competition—it reflects teamwork, accountability, and collective effort. All support is administered by the nonprofit and directed toward program-related expenses that enable participants to train, compete, and represent the United States with integrity.
How Your Support Is Used
Donations to this fundraiser are restricted to program-related expenses, including:
Structured training and development activities
Coaching, mentorship, and performance education
Equipment access and sled-related fees
Competition travel and lodging
Health, recovery, and performance support services
All funds are controlled and administered by the nonprofit in alignment with its Human Services mission and IRS regulations.
Why It Matters
This program is about more than sport. It is about access, transition, and opportunity.
By supporting this initiative, donors help create pathways for disciplined, service-minded athletes to continue striving for excellence—while inspiring others to see what is possible through commitment, teamwork, and structured support.
Your contribution helps fuel opportunity, representation, and impact—on the ice and beyond.
