❤️ An Urgent Update: Heart Failure Diagnosis and the Search for a Kidney Donor

We are sharing some difficult news about Earl Elderkin.

During his heart catheterization today, the doctors delivered a challenging diagnosis: heart failure. This has made his need for a life-saving kidney transplant even more urgent. The clock is ticking, and we are praying every day for a match.

We Need Your Help Finding a Donor

We continue our desperate search for a living kidney donor. The donor must have an O positive (O+) or O negative (O-) blood type.

Earl will be registering for the transplant list at Westchester Hospital. As he is also registered at Albany Medical center's kidney transplant program as well. If you or someone you know has O-type blood and would consider the incredible gift of life, please reach out to us or to the transplant center immediately.

GoFundMe: Covering Medical and Care Costs

We have started a GoFundMe campaign to help us manage the immense financial strain this situation is placing on our family. We are profoundly grateful for any donation.

Here is the link to donate:

The funds raised will be used for two critical needs:

Medical Costs: We are responsible for significant Medicare co-pays and deductibles for his transplant and post-operative care, as we are not eligible for Medicaid.

Caregiver Support and Household Strain: Following the transplant, I will need to take approximately one month off work to support Earl's recovery. A new kidney requires daily clinic visits for several months, which will put a substantial strain on our household. These funds will cover our essential living expenses during this period so I can focus entirely on his care as he navigates his new life.

Your support, whether through a donation, sharing our need for a donor, or simply sending your thoughts, means the world to us right now.

I am reaching out today to ask for your support for my husband, Earl Elderkin.

Earl is currently in kidney renal failure and is undergoing regular dialysis while actively searching for a life-saving kidney. He is currently on the transplant list at Albany Medical Center. A successful transplant is his only path to a sustained, healthy life.

Becoming a Living Donor

Earl's blood type is O Positive, which means he can receive a kidney from any O-blood-type donor (O Positive or O Negative).

If you or someone you know is interested in becoming a living kidney donor, please contact the Albany Medical Transplant Center directly to begin the evaluation process.

Information on Donor Qualifications/Disqualifications: What Disqualifies You From Being a Kidney Donor?

The Need for Financial Support

In order for Earl to qualify for the transplant, I must be his full-time caregiver at home for a full month post-surgery. This is a non-negotiable requirement for his care and the success of the procedure, and it means I will need to take a month of unpaid leave from work.

I am only asking for donations because I need to support our family during that required month off. The funds raised will be used for essential household expenses—mortgage, utilities, food, etc.—specifically to cover the income gap while I am not earning. This ensures our family's stability and allows me to meet the transplant center's requirements.

No funds will be used until Earl is scheduled for his kidney transplant.

Your support is critical. By helping us secure this funding, you are directly ensuring Earl can receive the transplant he desperately needs.

Thank you for your generosity, your prayers, and for considering becoming a donor. We are immensely grateful for any help you can provide.
