Hello,
I never thought I would be in a situation like this, but I guess when life gives you lemons, you wonder why you suddenly need to make lemonade. My name is Dyllan, I'm an artist and culinary fanatic, I also like comics and making my fiancé listen to my silly jokes from some past life where I was a big-time comedian. I work in a warehouse and enjoy making all of coworkers laugh any chance I get.
During mid-March, I first started getting sick with what I thought was just a regular cold and sore throat. This quickly turned into nights of me sitting up for hours and coughing up phlegm, which eventually turned to me coughing up blood, and finding signs of Pneumonia in my right lung. I was given medication, but my condition started to rapidly worsen, and I was quickly taken to the ER and hospitalized for 8 days. During my hospitalization, I was pricked and poked for blood, given may x-rays and cat scans, and even sent down to the ICU. After so long at the hospital, I was finally diagnosed with Blastomycosis, a disease due to a rare fungal infection (1 in 100,000). Now out of the hospital, I am the weakest I've ever been, needing a cane some days to get around. My right lung has been damaged, and it makes breathing hard. I find myself having to take many breaks when it comes to basic housework and not being able to be on my feet for more than 5 minutes. I cannot lift as much as I use to, going from 50lbs being no sweat, to 5lbs leaving me sweating and breathing heavy.
On top of my hard recovery came the massive bills. I do not have anywhere near the money that I need to cover the hospital visit, the radiology visits, and the medication that I need. It has all piled up and became a mountain that seems impossible to overcome. So, I'm turning to my community and asking for help. Please, I know everyone needs support and especially in these times, but I am asking for whatever help you can offer. I want to get better, and I want to live again. I want to take walks with my fiancé and dog, to spend time again in the kitchen all day like I use to, and to be at work again and feel 100% with my coworkers.
Any support you can give would be greatly appreciated. If you are unable to support directly, please share with your friends and family, it would mean the world to me.
Thank you so much and hopefully I'll be able to make lemonade out of all these lemons,
-Dyllan
