My baby brother was involved in a horrific BMX accident on Sunday, August 25th. He was brought to the Emergency Room with a ruptured spleen, a damaged kidney, and internal bleeding. At just 15 years old, (never broken a bone or even been on an airplane) was stablized in surgery in Bismarck and was life-flighted via medevac helicopter to Fargo Sanford Children's ICU for more surgery and more intensive care. As heartbreaking as any injury is, most of us have the luxury of relying on insurance to cover these extreme circumstances. After battling for years with insurance to cover my mother's multiple work-related surgeries, they have once again decided to REFUSE to cover Dylan. While my parents have kept an insanely positive attitude through all of this, the bills are going to start piling up. In this economy, a lot of us don't have much to give if any at all - just know that ALL of your kind words, prayers, and words of encouragement are NOT going unnoticed. It truly does take a village and no matter how tough this kid is - believe me, he wasn't afraid to speak his mind - he has a long road of recovery ahead of him. The one thing he loved more than anything was doing tricks on his bike and the mental battle of not being able to do that for a while or maybe ever again will be tough. PLEASE keep my family in your prayers as we muster up the strength to keep his spirits up! <3
ALL funds will go directly to medical bills as my parents try their best to cover this on their own as the totals continue to rise.
