It’s hard to believe we find ourselves here again, facing this journey for a second time as a family. Once more, we are leaning on your kindness and generosity to help us through one of the most difficult chapter of our lives. Yet of all the stories we could share, this is the one that carries the most beauty—a story we are both humbled and honored to share with you.
Over the past six years, Dylan has been receiving IVIG treatment at New York Presbyterian. These infusions help preserve the life of his first transplanted kidney, which he received from his dad in 2002. Despite every effort, Dylan’s doctors have shared that his kidney function has declined, and he will need another kidney transplant.
During this time, Dylan and I had just said “why not” to an impromptu surf trip to Puerto Rico. On our evening flight out of Newark, everything felt routine—until we reached the back of the plane. There, Morgan Ray stood up from her seat next to ours with a radiant smile, like a ray of sunshine.
From the moment we sat down, the three of us talked nonstop—about life, the world, and plenty of little things in between. It didn’t feel like the first-time meeting, or the last. We kept in touch through Instagram and texts, often talking about someday visiting her in Montana, not knowing how important this chance connection would be for all of us.
As time passed and Dylan’s numbers continued to decline, I reached out for help from all of you and shared on social media that Dylan needed a kidney donor.
That’s when Morgan-the girl we had met just two years earlier-reached out and offered to donate her kidney.
Some might call this coincidence, others might call it fate, but when Morgan passed every round of testing and was approved as a match, we knew it was a miracle.
Either way, we are profoundly grateful to Morgan, a beautiful person and friend who is standing with Dylan and our family, even in his hardest moments.
Dylan’s numbers have now reached the point where a transplant is necessary, and both surgeries are scheduled for October 8th, 2025. This fundraiser will go directly toward transplant-related medical and recovery costs. Thank you to each of you for your love and support during this journey.
