My daughter-in-law Desiree Morgan, is a single working mom with three children, always trying to make ends meet. Just recently, my grandson, a seven-year-old, Dylan, started complaining about terrible headaches, dizziness, and loss of hearing in his right ear. She immediately made an appointment with a doctor to get it checked out. After meeting with the doctor, she found out he was going to have to have surgery because they had found a large carcinoma.
Dylan went through surgery on October 11th. What they thought would be a couple-hour surgery turned into over 6 hours, with them finding out that there was not only one mass but six small ones around the large one. They removed them and are sending them for biopsy, but doctors have informed me that he will need another surgery in 6 weeks and another one in 6 months. He also was fitted for hearing aids but found out the damage from the masses to the right eardrum has caused him to lose hearing in his right ear, which he will never get back. Dylan will be disappointed about his hearing aids not helping his right ear, but he will definitely overcome that and just be fine with it. This family just got another hit with Dylan being hospitalized for a five night six day hospital stay due to having covid and pnemonia in the right lung having his mother to take off another 2 weeks of work, she is also looking at termination from her job with how much time she has had to take off to care for her sick child, his other surgery will take place in April of this year to hopefully remove everthing, dylan will be out of school the rest of the year making it hard for his mother to return to work. As a family we do what we can but it's still hard for everyone involved. Dylan has a heart of Gold and is the most easy-going, happy little boy, always wanting to help others and always remembering that God will take care of him.
She will have to take off the next 2 weeks for sure off of work because Dylan will not be able to go back to school for 2 weeks, which he will be disappointed about because he loves his classmates and he loves school. She will be struggling to get by, but I know we all will make it with family and friends to help us out in any way they can, and always knowing that God will help us to survive.
Thank you to everyone that read this little boy's story.
