Our good friend Dylan has been struggling for the past 5 years with a pain disorder that makes it incredibly difficult for him to live his life. After an ankle surgery post college back in 2019, Dylan's condition has gradually gotten more challenging over the years. Dylan has been diagnosed with a form of CRPS (complex regional pain syndrome) which is a very rare neurological disorder that can arise after a person has a surgery. It sends the body out of wack, making any physical movement result in a deep and painful inflammatory response throughout the body. This makes it difficult for Dylan to walk, talk, stand upright, eat, bathe, and go about his day. The current severity of his condition has meant that even washing his hair, shaving his face, and clipping his nails require his parents' assistance to prevent frustrating and painful setbacks. The only solution Dylan has found that stops the increase in painful inflammation throughout his body is to lay flat and motionless in a state of complete relaxation for long periods of time. Dylan spends most of his days lying flat on his back on the floor trying to keep his inflammation at bay. Dylan and his family have sought numerous medical opinions over the years with limited success. We are now looking to raise funds and awareness for Dylan and his condition, so that more treatment options may be pursued and so that Dylan's story might be seen by someone who can help. Currently, Dylan and his family have the opportunity to pursue care at Johns Hopkins specialty pain treatment center, but they will not accept Dylan's Pennsylvania medicaid which means he would have to pay out of pocket for the care. Additionally, there is a specialty CRPS clinic in Arkansas called the Spero Clinic which has well documented remission rates, but the cost of admittance for patience totals in the tens of thousands. If you or someone you know can help join the fight by supporting Dylan in any capacity, we would be so grateful.
