Please Support The Maxfields During This Challenging Time

Dear Friends,

I’m reaching out to ask for your support for Dylan, Katie, Sam (8), and Lana & Dory (5) as they navigate an unexpected and difficult health crisis.

What initially seemed like a stubborn ear infection turned out to be much more serious. Dylan had been experiencing terrible headaches and brain fog, which we thought were side effects of the infection. However, in the early morning hours of Saturday, November 16th, Katie took him to the ER when his pain became unbearable and he had difficulty speaking.

A CT scan revealed an abscess on Dylan’s brain and severe swelling in the left hemisphere. He was immediately transferred to a hospital with a neurosurgery unit and he underwent surgery later that day. The neurosurgeon successfully removed the abscess and flushed the area to clear the infection. Dylan was discharged on November 20th and has made great progress since then. Other than a big old scar on the side of his head and some lingering speech difficulties, he is well on his way to being the Dylan we all know and love.

That said, it’s not over yet. Due to the severity of the infection, Dylan requires IV antibiotics (administered at home) every 12 hours for the next 4-6 weeks. He is also taking anti-seizure medication, attending outpatient speech therapy, and has lifting restrictions. He hopes to return to work in January, but until then, the family is relying on Katie’s limited income.

We’ve set up a GoFundMe page to help alleviate the financial strain caused by mounting medical bills and household expenses during this time. Dylan has always been incredibly generous and the first to lend a hand to others in need. He’s now the one who could use a helping hand. We are kindly asking for any donation, big or small, to help support the Maxfield family during this challenging time.

We understand that finances are tight for many, especially during the holidays. Please know there is no obligation to give. A kind thought or well-wish for Dylan would mean the world to him and brighten his day. If you’d like, you can send a text or drop a note to him at:
1020 W Franklin St. Appleton, WI 54914

Thank you for keeping Dylan and his family in your thoughts. Your kindness and support mean more than words can express.

With heartfelt gratitude,
Becky (Katie and Dylan’s Aunt)
