My husband Dwayne has always been a hard worker and a dedicated member of our community. After more than 30 years serving at our church and two years at Warren Hall, he continued to volunteer in the media ministry until his health made it impossible to walk unassisted. Now, Dwayne is facing one of the toughest battles of his life: bladder cancer that has spread to his left hip. This has left him in constant pain and severely limited his mobility.
Recently, we sought a second opinion at Shands, where doctors recommended a new treatment involving injections to promote bone growth and help stop the cancer from spreading. While insurance covers part of this, Dwayne must also address serious dental issues before starting the medication. His enamel is gone, and the dentist recommends removing unsalvageable teeth and fitting him for dentures. This dental work is critical, as the medication can cause jaw deformities and painful disfigurement of jaw bones if there is any periodontal disease.
On top of these medical and dental expenses, we are struggling with everyday bills. Dwayne has no retirement and relies solely on social security, while I am a 10-month employee and do not receive pay during the summer. His many appointments have made it impossible for me to find extra work. We have never been in a situation like this before, and asking for help is not easy. Any funds raised will go directly to Dwayne’s medical, dental, and household expenses. Even the smallest donation makes a difference, and we are deeply grateful for your support, prayers, and encouragement. We are praying for good news from his upcoming PET scan and for Dwayne to have less pain and more mobility. Thank you for standing with us during this difficult time.
