My name is Dwayne and I adopted these 2 three years ago from the Humane Society. I failed to tell my landlord and after a recent home inspection they discovered I had them. I knew, if found out, I would incur a $600 fine. I spoke with the Assistant Property Manager on Monday and we agreed to a $200 per month payment plan that would pay the fine. There was no mention of any fee during the conversation. I went to pay the rent on Thursday and discovered an additional $700 charge as a Non-refundable pet owner fee. I called him back yesterday to discuss the situation and was told that there cannot be a payment plan to satisfy the fee and I had to have it paid by the 4th or suffer a $100 late fee and they would begin litigation to have me evicted for lease violation. He also told me that if I removed them from the home by the 4th then I wouldn't be liable for the $710 and could stay. I don't have the money nor is there anyone willing to take them in right now; even for a few months, to allow me time to save up to pay the fee or relocate so that I can keep them. I don't want to lose these 2 nor am I able to move at the moment. My only option now is to either pay or take Merlin and Matilda back to the Humane Society.
