Support Dwayne Haux's Healing Journey

Hello everyone. I am Aaron Haux and I am creating this on behalf of my father primarily and extended family. Just over a month ago in early October, my dad Dwayne “Butch” Haux was admitted to a hospital in Las Vegas, over one and a half hours from his home. He had been to a hospital closer to home where that hospital overlooked one medical issue and prescribed medication for another. He attempted to give this medication time to work, but the overlooked issue took a serious turn which resulted in his need to be transported to Las Vegas and admitted.

This overlooked medical issue was blood clots in his legs. While this was diagnosed, there were other issues found. One was a large mass in his colon, cancer, which luckily has not spread. They attempted to remove the blood clots, but the left leg was unable to be re-opened. He needed to have it amputated above the knee due to the lower portion having started dying. Both the colonic mass and the leg needed to be corrected quickly, and the doctors were able to do so at the same time.

However, there is no support system in Arizona or Las Vegas for my dad while he recovers. I am in Alaska and the rest of the extended family is in Minnesota. We are trying to fund a chartered flight in deference to his condition (still weak but recovering) to Minnesota to a facility where he will be in closer proximity to family for mental health support. This is also where he would be staying once he is back in good health.
