I’m reaching out today on behalf of my brother, Dwayne Adams, who is going through one of the hardest battles of his life.

In early April, Dwayne had just started a new job and was looking forward to a fresh start. But just a week later, he received devastating news—he was diagnosed with lung cancer.

On June 17, he underwent surgery that was expected to be a 1.5-hour robotic-assisted procedure. Instead, it turned into a 5.5-hour open thoracotomy, during which surgeons had to remove part of a rib, his upper right lung lobe, and several lymph nodes.

Dwayne was hopeful he could return to work quickly—but that hasn’t been possible. At his follow-up appointment, doctors discovered his lung had collapsed, requiring him to be readmitted to the hospital and have the chest tube reinserted. It had to remain in place for another five days. Since then, he's also contracted an infection and is now on antibiotics. It has truly been one complication after another.

This has been an incredibly overwhelming and painful journey for Dwayne—and our family. The financial burden is growing with no income, hospital stays, ongoing care, and living expenses.
