Support Dwaine's Recovery Journey

Hi everyone. Many of you reading this know me but for those who don't, my name is Rhonda Smith. I have been friends with Dwaine and Jennifer for a couple of years now. We all met through our local track, Langley Speedway. As most of you know, your racing friends typically become family. And that's what Dwaine and Jennifer have become to many, FAMILY. Well our family is in need and that's why this Go Fund ME has been organized. Dwaine is a very familiar face among so many of the race teams not just here in VA, but many other states as well. To say he is well known in the racing community is an understatement.

Some of you may or may not know by now, but Dwaine has had some medical issues that were the result of his diabetic condition. However, back in September, Dwaine suffered a mild heart attack. After being released from the hospital, he continued to have issues specifically relating to pain in his neck. While he was awaiting to see a specialist, he recently took a fall as well as began to have some other issues that would lead to him being taken by ambulance to the hospital. They discovered that the pain he was experiencing was coming from a fracture to his C5-C7 vertebrae as well as infection in his C4-C7 vertebrae in the cervical spine. On Saturday, October 4, Dwaine underwent an 8 hr surgery to repair the vertebrae and remove infection from his spine. Surgery was successful; however, he will now have to live with some extra hardware in his spine.

So why the Go Fund me? As anyone can imagine, hospital bills aren't cheap as are the montly cost of living and Dwaine will be out of work for quite some time, leaving the financial load on Jennifers shoulders. Jennifer, his very loving and very faithful wife, will need all the prayers and help she can get to endure these difficult times that lie ahead for her and Dwaine. While surgery is behind them, the long road to recovery still lies ahead.
