Single Father, Army Veteran, and Leukemia Fighter Left in Ruins After Flood & Contractor Scam – Help Dutch Rebuild

This GoFundMe is for Dutch—a 46-year-old Army infantry veteran, single father, leukemia warrior, and full-time caregiver who has reached a point no one should face alone.

Dutch is doing everything humanly possible—and then some. He’s raising his 11-year-old son while also caring for his 22-year-old who is training and learning his new trade in HVAC. He’s the sole caregiver for his elderly mother, who faces her own complex medical struggles, including tumors on her kidneys. And through it all, Dutch himself is battling chronic myeloid leukemia.

He works over 50 hours a week in HVAC just to keep his family afloat and still finds time to serve his church and community through youth Bible studies and weekly services. He’s the kind of man who never asks for help—he just gives it. Quietly. Consistently. Completely.

But now, Dutch desperately needs our help.

When a broken pipe flooded his home, it destroyed Dutch’s home. Though homeowner’s insurance approved repairs and temporarily covered hotel stays, the contractor hired to restore the home scammed him—doing a quick, shoddy job, collecting the check, and disappearing. The work that was done was substandard, unsafe, and didn’t even meet code. Most of the repairs weren’t completed at all.

The family was forced to move back into a house that’s still falling apart.

Worse, the contractor took months longer than promised, leaving Dutch to pay out of pocket to keep his mother and sons safely housed in a hotel. He had to borrow money just to keep a roof over their heads while waiting for work that never came.

Dutch has given everything—for his country, his children, his mother, and his faith. Now he needs a community to give back.
