- Hello, my name is Dustin. I honestly never hoped I ever had to do a gofundme for myself or anyone in that matter. But lastnight I was awakened to my neighbors house on fire, I quickly ran to get dressed, grab my hose, and dial 911..but within seconds the fire spread to my home on the 2nd, and 3rd floor. I ran into my house to grab my baby bearded dragon and my wallet. Reading Fire Department arrived and then reality was quickly setting in that I was slowly losing everything I ever had,but I was relieved to see the young Mom and her child were not in the home at the time. And after the adrenaline wore off and the fire was under control, I knew my life was about to make a drastic change. The home I was living in was my stepfather's. He passed away in Feb, 2024 and the home was going to eventually be placed in my name once the estate is dealt with. I been living in this home since 1985, my whole life is in that home..unfortunately the property has no insurance..and I'm just at a complete loss. All morning I sat in my truck with my pet in a tupperware wondering what am I going to do. Luckily someone I've known forever has temporary offered me a room. And I am here 13hrs later doing something I always been extremely stubborn about..and thats asking for help. Luckily I have a job with some good understanding folks at the farmers market..but I realize financially I can't get this home habital without help. The Fire Marshall said if I can get the roof repaired in bad sections, windows fixed or boarded, and all electrical lines within code..I can get home inspected by licensed electrician and services restored (electric, and gas) and from there a long road ahead of getting my home livable. My home sustained mild fire damage, but the overhaul of the roof for extensions and most windows busted for ventilation and alot of water damage has left me with my life, and a few articles of clothes. I'm sorry this is so long..but I just feel details are important..especially when asking for help. I'm going to include a few photos of damage..and just know if you can't help financially..I still appreciate you for taking the time to read this, and any reinforcing words you may have for me. Thank you all again.
