Dustin Umemoto is a beloved friend and a pillar of the Tahoma community. Alongside his best friend and mother of his child, Nicole Rand, Dustin has always put others first, whether through his work or his countless acts of kindness. Even while recovering from radiation treatments for eye cancer a week prior to this assualt, he was out helping neighbors during the flood crisis, never asking for anything in return.

On December 13th, Dustin’s world was turned upside down. While riding his Ducati in Renton, he was intentionally struck by an aggressive driver. He is now in the ICU, sedated and on a breather tube, with multiple skull fractures, brain bleeds, and serious leg and knee injuries. This comes on top of his ongoing battle with cancer and the financial strain of medical bills. To make matters even more difficult, Dustin’s family has already endured so much, Nicole underwent intense brain surgery early this year, and his children, [redacted due to harassment from the child’s mother] and Letti, have faced more than their share of hardship.

Dustin’s spirit is unbreakable, but the road ahead is long. The funds raised will help cover his medical bills, living expenses while he is unable to work, and ensure his children can still experience the joy of Christmas. We’re calling on the community that Dustin has always supported to now rally around him, whether through a monetary contribution, prayers, or sharing this story. Justice for Dustin will come, but right now, the focus is on his recovery. Thank you to everyone who has reached out and offered support.
