Support Dustin After Dog Attack

Dustin Westmoreland has been a trusted friend and handyman in our community for over 20 years. He’s known for his kindness, his love for animals, and his willingness to help anyone in need. Recently, Dustin faced a life-changing event while trying to do the right thing. After repairing a hot water heater at a rental property, he returned the next day on his own time to check on the tenant’s pets, who had been left in cages inside without food or care for over 48 hours. With the tenant unreachable and the animals in distress, Dustin took it upon himself to help. While waiting for animal control, he began letting the dogs out to give them some relief. In the process, a fight broke out between the dogs, and when Dustin tried to break it up, he was bitten—suffering severe injuries to his left hand and, most seriously, his right arm.

Dustin was in the hospital for several days and has undergone two surgeries, with more needed in the future. This is devastating for Dustin, as he relies on his hands for his work as a primary subcontractor for technical schools in Columbia, South Carolina, and as a handyman for many individuals. The attack has left him with mounting medical bills and the real possibility of lost income. Dustin’s actions were motivated by compassion for animals in need, and now he needs our support as he faces a long and uncertain recovery. Any help you can provide will go directly to Dustin to assist with his medical expenses and living costs during this difficult time.
