On March 31st, Tarynn’s mom Sarah noticed unusual swelling in Tarynn’s legs. Sarah contacted her primary pediatrician, but he dismissed it, saying it was common in kids. Luckily, mother’s intuition still led them to urgent care, where they were quickly sent to OU Children’s Hospital in Oklahoma City. At OU Children’s, they began running several tests, scans and procedures to determine what was going on with Tarynn. On April 9, 2021, a heart catheter was done to confirm the findings that doctors had expected. Diagnosis - Restrictive Cardiomyopathy. There is no treatment or surgery to heal this condition, the only option is a heart transplant. This condition is most likely something Tarynn has lived with her entire life, but it has become more evident now that she is critical.
In the coming days, Tarynn will fly by medical helicopter to St. Louis Children’s Hospital, where she will await a matching heart and her heart transplant surgery. Due to the severity of her condition, the Stewart’s have been told that she has been moved to the top of the list. Hershel (Tarynn‘s dad) and Sarah will stay in hospital housing, while Tarynn will remain hospitalized for the duration of her stay, and until her new heart becomes available.
During this time, Hershel and Sarah are not able to work. They still have bills back home, eating expenses, medical expenses, and just your typical day to day living costs. Tarynn is strong. Tarynn is loved, and prayed for by many. Our faith is strong that this only be a bump in the road to her life story. Still yet, any support/prayers that we can get is tremendously appreciated.
