Kidney Transplant Healing and Support

  • On February 19th 2023 at 12:15am we got the call that they had a Kidney for my husband and we needed to leave to Portland ASAP. Richard went into surgery at 1:00 pm and was out at 5:30pm. Richard and my self his care partner will need to stay in Portland for a month this is 3 hours away from our home where our kids are. I’ll be driving back and forth and not working during this time. The hotel rooms and cost of food won’t be the best for us right now as we try to pay our home bills as well. Anything helps even a share please! Thank you so much for the amazing support over the last almost five years. We are almost done we will be totally done traveling to Portland after 3 months. Please help and share.

  • UPDATE 01/01/2022: Well 2022 isn’t so great. Starting the year off in a struggle already financially, health wise, emotionally, and mentally. What do you expect when you find out your love of your life has kidney cancer now and will be going into surgery in the next few weeks (January 20th 2022 @5:30am) to have his left kidney removed in Eugene Oregon and have a hemo catheter tube put back in his heart. We will be in Eugene for 3-4 days in a hotel ( 19th- 24th) well I’ll be and he will be, being monitored in the hospital. During that time he will go back on Hemo dialysis (waiting to find out the surgery day for the catheter surgery, has to be before January 20th) back at Davita until he is fully healed which is up to eight weeks and he has been temporarily removed from the kidney donation list as of yesterday 01/05/2022. Richard isn’t currently working but collecting SSDI. We both are currently positive for COVID as well I have and will be out of work for ten days. Im trying to understand and trying my hardest to support my family of 4 and my fur baby, and what I'm here to learn besides the more struggles of life. Please pray for the love of my life as I can’t ever do this life without him. He is my world!! Thank you 2022 we are on day 6!! Looking forward to the future and hopefully a healthy one. Please pray for us in all aspects. Trying to stay positive and hold my head high and keep fighting for my husbands health and life to continue for all of us as a family. Anything helps a share, a donation and simply a prayer is so valuable and important in any situation. God bless you all!!!

A day we will never forget. November 21st 2018 what I thought would be a normal day turned into a life changing day. About two in the afternoon I was informed to stay calm and go pick my husband up from work and take him right away to The ER that his kidneys were failing. What we thought would be a two day kidney flush has turned into a eight day stay so far as of 11/29/2018 we are still admitted. We do not have insurance and we have been through a biopsy and a catheter placement and one round of dialysis, and X-RAYs. They informed us today that we need $60000 dollars for a month of dialysis in order to be released from the hospital. If we don’t then we stay here, they have to know he is receiving dialysis outpatient before he can be discharged. We were both full time employees at Garden Valley Retirement and Hampton Inn & Suites we have two amazing children together that we care for Rickey 13 and Sage 9. Richard has a 25 year old daughter Alysia as well that lives in Southern California and keeps in contact with us she doesn’t live here in Oregon with us. We are trying our hardest to get insurance and help threw the county were before we were denied. But at this time until everything is processed. We have been asked how people can help and we don’t want material things at all we just want to know that our kids are feed as we don’t receive food stamps and a roof stays over their head during this time. We are so blessed and have met amazing Drs, staff, nurses everyone. This will forever be in our hearts and so will everyone who has came in our paths. We don’t ask for help ever and in this time I guess it is needed I hate doing it but it’s a feeling of security right now. We appreciate and thank everyone for their continued support during this life changing event so far this is not temporary it’s for life till we hear further. We will take any help that is offered! And we thank everyone more than you will ever know.
