Our family’s world changed suddenly on Friday, January 30th, when our mom, Cheryl, suffered a stroke. She is currently in the ICU, and while this has been incredibly scary, we are so grateful she is still with us and is getting a little stronger each day. We know she has a long road of recovery ahead filled with medical care, therapy, and healing.
If you know our mom, you know how much she means to our family. She has always shown up for us as her kids, every milestone, every hard moment, every celebration. She pours that same love into her grandkids, never missing a game, a performance, or a chance to make them feel special. She is the heart of our family, and now she needs our support more than ever.
Our dad, David, has always been her rock, and now he is stepping into a new role as caregiver while still trying to work and support their household. As the sole provider, he is facing the overwhelming challenge of balancing his job with caring for the love of his life. The emotional toll is heavy, and the financial uncertainty only adds to the stress.
Right now, we don’t know what insurance will and won’t cover. Medical bills, rehabilitation, medications, and potential home care needs are adding up quickly. On top of that, everyday expenses like groceries, utilities, and gas don’t pause for a medical crisis.
As their kids, we want to do everything we can to support both of our parents during this incredibly difficult time. We are starting this fundraiser to help ease the financial burden so our dad can focus on caring for our mom and being by her side through her recovery, without the constant worry about how bills will be paid.
Any amount, no matter how small, truly helps. Even a donation that covers a few days of groceries or a utility bill gives our parents one less thing to stress about.
Thank you for all of the prayers, text messages, and phone calls during this time. That means the world to us.
Organized by Jason Thibodeau on behalf of Laura, Jason, & Ash Thomas.
