I’ve always tried to show up for others - students, colleagues, friends, and family. Asking for help doesn’t come naturally to me, but given everything that has happened over the past few months, I want to share where things stand.
Last December, I received discouraging test results that led to a biopsy in early January. In mid-January, I learned it was an aggressive form of cancer. I’ve since had surgery, but it remains uncertain, and I am still in the middle of recovery and ongoing care.
At the same time, my family was going through something deeply personal. My father moved into our home under hospice care, and he passed away in late February.
During this period, I was navigating both my own medical situation and my father’s care, including working through the FMLA leave process with my employer.
During this same period, my position - where I had served for over nine years - was eliminated. I was encouraged to apply for another new role within my department but was ultimately not selected.
As it stands today, I am facing the loss of my income and health insurance in the middle of cancer recovery, without a severance or transition plan currently in place.
A portion of the funds raised here may go toward legal and other efforts to navigate this situation and ensure stability for my family during this time. My primary focus, however, is on recovery, stability, and taking care of my family.
Despite everything, I am continuing to move forward and will be pursuing new opportunities.
Funds raised will go toward:
- Ongoing medical care and recovery-related expenses
- Health insurance and coverage needs
- Mortgage and essential living expenses
- Legal support related to my situation
If you are in a position to contribute, I am deeply grateful. If not, your encouragement, support, and prayers mean just as much to me and my family.
Thank you for being in my corner. I intend to come through this stronger and ready for what’s next.
