Hi everyone, my name is Vanessa, and I’m starting this GoFundMe for my dog, Dukey, who has been diagnosed with glaucoma. It’s been hard to finally decide to make this GoFundMe because I was afraid of judgment, but I truly believe this could help our situation.
Glaucoma causes dangerously high pressure inside the eye, and for dogs, that pressure is extremely painful. It’s like a constant migraine that never goes away. We’ve tried managing it with medication, but Dukey is currently on three different eye drops, five times a day, and it’s just not ideal or fair for him anymore. The medications only work temporarily, and we’ve reached the point where they’re no longer controlling the pressure.
The next step to relieve his pain is surgery to remove his affected eye. While that sounds scary, it’s actually the best way to eliminate the pain and allow Dukey to live comfortably again. He’s only 7 years old, still full of life, and deserves to enjoy his days without constant discomfort.
Unfortunately, pet insurance wasn’t an option for us. This all came on suddenly, and by the time we had answers, it was already considered a preexisting condition, making him ineligible for coverage.
If you know me, you know I’m outside all the time, and Dukey is always right there with me. The surgery will cost a little over $2,000, and while times are tough for everyone, anything you’re able to contribute or share will help more than you know.
Thank you so much for supporting Dukey and helping him get back to a happy, pain-free life.
