Duke (Deron) and Christy Johnson don’t ask for help. In fact, they haven’t wanted anyone to “fuss” over them since Duke’s heartbreaking diagnosis in Fall 2021. They have fought, smiled through it and kept things to themselves, determined to make lemonade from lemons. But the reality is this; Duke has stage 4 small-cell lung carcinoma, and the fight is damn hard. Pushing aside their pride to accept financial support is also hard for The Johnsons, but it’s time to give back to them for all they have given to their community, family, students, and of course their beautiful son, Damon.
