**UPDATE** (Friday July 25th)

As many of you know that Duggan recently suffered what’s known as a “widowmaker” heart attack one of the most severe and life-threatening heart attacks there is.

Since then, he’s been fighting with incredible strength with the support of an amazing medical team. He’s been on advanced life support, including an IMPELLA and ECMO machine that’s been doing the work of his heart and lungs while his body recovers.

There have been very hopeful signs of improvement: he’s been able to move his toes, hands and at times nod in response to questions showing us he’s still here and fighting. His heart function and breathing have slowly improved, and his team has been able to reduce some of the machine support to let his heart do more on its own.

He’s now at UNMC, where they’re prepared if he needs a heart transplant or a special heart pump if his heart can’t fully recover. The great news is, they are very optimistic that his heart has recovered and things should continue to move upward from here

They’re also keeping a close eye on his kidneys and some swelling in his brain — so far things are stable, and they’re doing everything possible to help his body heal.

The next big milestone is removing the ECMO machine to see if his heart can keep up on its own. If all goes well, the next goal is getting him off the ventilator so we can hear his voice

On Monday, July 21st, our beloved friend Duggan suffered a massive heart attack and was rushed to the hospital. Doctors discovered a 100% blockage in his main artery, requiring immediate intervention. A stent was placed to clear the blockage, and Duggan underwent emergency surgery. After a challenging journey, he is now stable at UNMC, where he continues to receive critical care and further diagnosis.

This sudden health crisis has been overwhelming for Amanda, their children, and both of their families. As they navigate this difficult time, let’s come together to show our love and support.
