Hi Guys!
You may all know who WE are, but you may not know who I am. My name is Rushane Drummond and I am the owner of the Jamaica Mi Krazy food truck that travels all over Wisconsin to serve you the 'taste of the island.' I resided with my family in Jamaica for 20 years prior to moving to the United States of America 11 years ago. As of today, I am proud to be a citizen of the United States of America, but I do NOT forget my roots and where I come from, nor do I forget my family in Jamaica that helped me become the man, father, and business owner I am today.
On October 28th, Hurricane Melissa struck the place I call home—the beautiful island of Jamaica. This was a category 5 hurricane and a catastrophe for the people of Jamaica—my family included. I personally was down there at the time of the hurricane, due to a family funeral that took place the day prior. I have never in my life seen anything like Hurricane Melissa and the total destruction she caused to Jamaica—specifically the St. James Parish where I am from. My mother, uncles, aunts, siblings, cousins, and nephews lost it all. What little they had to their names, no longer exists. The houses and shops I grew up in, with people that mean the world to me, no longer exist. My family continues to have a positive outlook on life, even though all they have is the ground beneath their feet.
I am raising money to help provide supplies for new houses, food, and basic daily necessities for my family in the St. James Parish- specifically my community of Dumfries and Canaan. They took a direct hit from Hurricane Melissa and I alone cannot provide for all of the displaced members of my family at this time. My plan is to pack barrels and send them on their way to Jamaica filled with everyday essentials. Once non-residents are allowed back in the country, Jamaica Mi Krazy will head down to Jamaica to assist our family in building new homes and providing them a safe place to finally rest their eyes and be at peace.
Please consider donating to the Drummond Family in Dumfries and Canaan, JA as they continue to piece their lives back together after a catastrophe no weather alert could have prepared them for!
