On December 6, 2024, Drew "Osito" Medina unexpectedly ended up in the hospital. He went to the ER because he wasn't feeling well and that began his ongoing medical journey that continues today. He has been unable to work as he is currently bedridden.
His Story:
He was admitted into the hospital on December 6th and had countless medical procedures and tests that ended with him having multiple mini strokes and his left leg being amputated. From the hospital, he was then discharged to a long-term facility on January 15th. That facility was not great, so he was then discharged to a much better rehabilitation facility on January 28th. He was working really hard to get stronger and the rehab facility was amazing, but unfortunately because of the medical insurance company, they discharged him prematurely on February 14th. He is unable to care for himself, so he and Coco (his fur baby) are currently staying with me (his favorite cousin) and my young son. It has been a tough journey for both of them.
Since then, he has had home health come out to care for him 3x's/week along with home health physical therapy 2x's/week. He has an upcoming surgery taking place as soon as they can schedule it. He will be having eye surgery on his right eye to try and save what's left of his vision as it is currently at about 25%. There will be a down payment, and bills associated with that as well.
Anyone that knows Osito, knows that he would give you the shirt off his back or be there for you at any given moment if you needed him. He has the biggest heart and would do anything for his family and friends. He has been amazingly blessed to have so many of you be so supportive of him on this journey. We call ya'll the Drew Crew and are beyond grateful for you.
I'm praying that we can give him back just a portion of the love and caring he has given us and help him out in this difficult time. Please find it in your hearts to help out our Osito.
