On Sunday night, my best friend Christine’s husband Drew suffered a sudden and devastating medical emergency at home that initially appeared to be a seizure. He was rushed by ambulance to Elliot Hospital and then emergency med flighted Monday to Massachusetts General Hospital for critical care treatment.
Doctors later diagnosed Drew with a PCA stroke and a vertebral artery dissection. Once at Mass General, additional MRI testing revealed that Drew had actually suffered four strokes affecting both the left and right sides of his brain.
Drew and his wife Christine are now facing every family’s worst nightmare while trying to care for their three beautiful daughters, ages Paisley 6, Mylah 3, and just 6 months old Callie.
Christine works full-time, while Drew manages and operates their small business, Laser and Linked in the mall. With Drew now hospitalized and unable to work, their family is facing overwhelming emotional and financial stress all at once.
To make matters even harder, Drew unfortunately does not currently have health insurance. Between emergency ambulance transport, the med flight, hospitalization at Mass General, extensive testing, ongoing treatment, rehabilitation needs, and Christine needing to miss work to care for Drew and their daughters, the financial burden is growing quickly.
We are asking for help to support Christine, Drew, and their girls during this incredibly difficult time. Any donation, no matter the amount, will help ease the pressure of medical bills, household expenses, childcare, and lost income so they can focus fully on Drew’s recovery and their family.
If you are unable to donate, please consider sharing this fundraiser and keeping their family in your thoughts and prayers.
If you’d prefer to VENMO Christine directly - @blazebaby
And of course, you can support their small business when open.
Thank you for supporting this wonderful family during a time they need their community most.
