My name is DonTazha Kelly, and I am a 31-year-old single mother to two amazing children, my daughter Drew, age 9, and my son Khayson, age 7. I am creating this GoFundMe with a humble heart during one of the most difficult seasons of our lives.
On December 23, our world turned upside down when Drew was hospitalized with bleeding in her brain, the flu, and aspiration pneumonia. During that stay, doctors performed a shunt revision along with burr holes to drain excess fluid. We remained in the hospital until January 4. Although Drew seemed stable for a few weeks, this past Monday (2/2/26) she became very sick again with vomiting and fever. On February 5, we returned to the ER, where doctors drew fluid from her shunt and discovered an infection. We are now facing at least another two-week hospital admission, with the possibility of a longer stay.
Because of Drew’s medical needs, I lost one of my jobs after our last hospital stay. I also serve as Drew’s home health aide, but I do not receive payment for that role while she is admitted. As a result, I will again be without income for the next 2–3 weeks.
I am asking for any support, no amount is too small, to help us stay afloat with basic bills for this month and next. Funds will also help cover travel expenses as I go back and forth between the hospital to be with Drew during the day and spend nights with my son so he still feels supported and cared for.
Being a mother is my greatest blessing, and I am doing everything I can to be strong for both of my children. Your prayers, shares, and donations mean more to us than words can express. Thank you for helping us get through this incredibly challenging time.
