Recently Drew got the honor of being asked to come play for the The Alaska Baseball League (ABL). It is a premier amateur collegiate summer league operating in southern Alaska. Founded in 1974, it showcases top NCAA players.
There are several teams participating and Drew has been recruited by the Chinooks.
Competing as the only Christian team in the Alaska Baseball League, the Chinooks run their team differently than the other clubs.
Home games are free of charge to fans.
Players read books to children at the Eagle River Library; a program called “Books With Chinooks.”
Fans are encouraged to enter the field after each home game in order to meet the players, take photos, and collect autographs.
These young men, ages 18 to 24, are dedicated athletes and a summer of competitive baseball improves their skills and gets them noticed by professional scouts. Ultimately, the Chinooks/AIA staff seek to build up these young men to be good sons, husbands, and fathers as well as good baseball players.
The ALB has helped produce some amazing players like Barry Bonds, Mark McGwire, Aaron Judge and Jason Giambi.
This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for Drew and we could not be more excited!
Spending an entire summer away and working on his passion does come with a bit of a cost. Money is needed for round trip airfare and to help fund Athletes in Action which helps fund transportation, housing and food for the athletes. That is why we are reaching out to friends and family. Drew has a month to try and raise money for this endeavor. Any donation, no matter how big or small, will help get Drew a step closer to his goal.
Thank you in advance everyone - from the bottom of our hearts.
