Our girl needs our help! Drew Carpenter is strength, grace, beauty and the beast. A tough as nails girly, who shows the world a kind heart. She's strong and powerful, yet delicate and sensitive. She's the type who never gives up, works hard for what she has and remembers what it took to get there. Always a go getter, she's always the first to offer help and the most supportive person on your team. What do you do when your rock becomes stuck and needs help? You show up in battle gear to fight by her side.
Drew was recently diagnosed with Breast Cancer.
Let's put on that battle gear people and support our girl!
Drew has always worked for what she has and never given anything in life. She's a very responsible, very dependable and independent person. Only relying on herself and what she can provide. She worked as a cake decorator for 8 years and wanting to better her future by getting into the medical field, she started taking classes for medical billing and coding and started a new career at Lincare. A month into this new journey she discovered a LUMP! As a women a lump in your breasts sends up alarm bells. However, just starting a new career she needed to wait the 90 days for insurance to kick in. As soon as that wait was up Drew made the appointment, got results back, it's the C word, Cancer.
Drew is a mother to a spunky, sassy, beautiful 8 year old boy, Carter. Carter is a very active young man, playing every sport he can and Drew is at every practice, every game, baseball, wrestling, football, all of it. Always supportive with her words of positivity. "You got this", "push harder", "be a team player", "you did your best", "look how good you did", "I'm proud of you" comes from her mouth after every game. Even after attempting to pin a wrestler twice his size she never lets him think he can't do something. She pours all her soul into that boy and he's the best little boy, who needs his mom.
But Drew doesn't do it completely on her own. Her partner Josh is by her side. Adding to their little family is Josh Soliday, her fiance. Josh came into Drew and Carter's lives 5 years ago and has been a strong support system for her since.
When you get a cancer diagnosis your world stops. It's a forced stop, unplanned, unpredictable, unprepare-able. No one at 35 should have to prepare to go into battle. No one at any age should, but 35 is young. Still having a lifetime ahead of her, Drew was making life changes, changes to better hers and Carter's lives. This isn't the change any of us predicted.
As most of us do, and know, living paycheck to paycheck is hard. Starting a new career is hard. It takes time to build back up and find a groove after starting somewhere fresh. Now add cancer to it. Much harder, right? Our girl needs help.
It's terrifying to have your world stop but the actual world around you not. Bills don't stop. The cost of living doesn't stop. Everyone around you's world has kept going but you're at a stand still. Normal day to day has been paused for you. Yet the bills still need paid, mortgage is still due, children still need fed, you have to eat yourself. Now major hospital bills are coming, cost of travel.
You have to some how go on. You have to make it work. You have to fight so hard. You have to fight to keep living and your focus should be to get better, keep fighting, keep going. And for Drew we want her only focus to be on the fight for her life, getting better, staying positive, being the strong woman she is. Help Drew fight. Help her fight for her family, fight for her future, fight for everything she has worked for, fight her life.
Let's put on our pink battle gear and go to war for this girl
