On December 9th, Drew Nichols experienced trouble speaking. Thinking he was having a stroke, he drove himself to the hospital. After many tests, he was actually diagnosed with a brain tumor. On December 12th, Drew was transferred to UCSF Medical Center where brain surgery was performed on the 15th. Although surgery was successful and Drew is recovering in ICU, the doctors did discover that he has glioblastoma and will require radiation. He will continue to rest in ICU for about a week and will then start radiation that will last about 3 weeks. The hospital has allowed Joy to be by Drew’s side this entire time, living on pb&j sandwiches. Unfortunately, once he starts the radiation, she will no longer be able to stay with him.
We are looking for housing close to UCSF Medical Center for Joy so that she can remain close to her best friend and love of her life. Any contribution will help to cover lodging, travel, and meals for Joy and any other financial challenges they may run into.
Please consider donating to help Joy and Drew through this difficult time. Sharing this page with your friends and anyone that knows Joy and Drew is equally meaningful. Every bit of support brings them comfort and hope.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your generosity, love, and compassion.
